Melissa Dufrene, Psy.D
Dr. Melissa Dufrene is a licensed clinical psychologist who leads Algiers Neurobehavioral Resource’s initiatives surrounding women’s therapy, assessment, and behavioral needs. In this capacity, she provides reliable psychological assessments and individual therapy to women patients for issues such as postpartum depression, general anxiety, relationship issues, abuse, and general mental health.
Dr. Dufrene’s practice also focuses on assessing and treating anxiety disorders in adults and children, working with families, and providing individual therapy or intervention when appropriate. As a result of applying credible and evidenced based techniques to her clinical practices, Dr. Dufrene’s work often leads to positive outcomes for clients dealing with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorders, panic disorders, and depression.
Previously, Dr. Dufrene trained at Rogers Memorial Hospital, a nationally recognized residential and behavioral health hospital, treating individuals with serious mental health disorders. At this facility, she worked in the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Center, one of only two residential treatment centers in the United States for males and females age 18 and older with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and obsessive-compulsive (OC) spectrum disorders. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from The School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute in Springfield, Missouri. She is currently licensed in the State of Louisiana as a Clinical Psychologist (#1262).
Dr. Melissa Dufrene also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology at Xavier University of Louisiana. She accepts speaking engagements on women’s health and stress management as well as anxiety disorders.
